Crowdfunding with Incentives: Residents donate directly. Every donation qualifies for a provincial tax credit (offsetting up to 100% against BC income taxes, capped reasonably). The province matches 50% of each donation.

Young couples are delaying or forgoing children because the cost of housing, childcare, and daily living has become overwhelming. This is not just an economic problem; it is a generational crisis that threatens the future of our province.

The BC Renewal Party proposes a bold and practical solution: the Universal BC Dividend — a monthly payment of $500 per resident, starting as soon as the Party is in a position to implement it, and growing over time as resource revenues increase.

How It Works
Universal: Every British Columbian resident receives $500 per month — no means test, no bureaucracy, no stigma.
Phased Rollout: Begin at $500/month and scale upward (targeting $1,000/month within 10 years) as revenues from nuclear energy, LNG, mining, and other resources grow.
Funding Mechanism: Primarily funded through expanded resource development (nuclear, LNG, critical minerals) and efficiency savings (e.g., $800 million – $1.4 billion annually from reduced hydro imports due to drought). We will not raise income taxes on working British Columbians to pay for it.
Tax Treatment: Treated as a non-taxable dividend, similar to Alaska’s Permanent Fund Dividend.

The NDP’s $10-a-day childcare program was sold as a bold solution, but it has become a classic example of top-down government failure. The province has committed over $1.2 billion annually (and billions more in total capital and operating funding) to create regulated spaces. Yet waitlists remain extremely long, many promised spaces have not materialized, and the program has been plagued by administrative delays, quality concerns, and high per-space costs. The NDP has poured massive taxpayer money into a rigid, bureaucratic system that limits parental choice and fails to deliver the flexibility families actually need.

The BC Renewal Party believes parents make the best childcare decisions for their own children. We reject the idea that Victoria bureaucrats know better than mothers and fathers. We will support families through two complementary, powerful tools: the Universal BC Dividend and a targeted Direct Childcare Benefit.

Our Dual Approach

Universal BC Dividend – Broad Economic Security Every resident receives $500 per month (scaling over time). For a family of four, this means $2,000 per month with no strings attached. Parents can use it for rent, groceries, childcare, or staying home if they choose. It is simple, universal, and respects parental autonomy while stimulating the entire local economy.
Direct Childcare Benefit – Targeted Family Support In addition to the Universal Dividend, we will introduce a monthly Direct Childcare Benefit paid directly to parents as a refundable tax credit or monthly deposit — no waitlists, no bureaucracy, and no government deciding where your child goes. Parents can use it for daycare, nannies, family care, co-ops, or staying home.
$600 per month per child under age 6 (infant/toddler focus).
$300 per month per child ages 6–12 (school-age support).
 
We believe parents know what is best for their children. BC Renewal will stop wasting billions on centralized programs and instead put real money directly into the hands of the people who love their kids most.

Parallel Accelerated STEM and Academic Pathways: Expand co-op programs for university-bound students to earn post-secondary credits in high school.
Strong Traditional Liberal Education: Every student will study the Great Books of the Western World and the 102 Great Ideas from Mortimer Adler’s Syntopicon. In the AI era, this foundation teaches critical thinking, moral reasoning, and independent judgment that no algorithm can replace.

We reject the current path under DRIPA, which has created legal uncertainty, stalled critical projects, and empowered veto-like powers that harm housing supply, energy development, and economic growth for everyone.

We agree with the BC Conservatives and One BC that DRIPA must be repealed or fundamentally reformed. However, we will not make our entire platform about repeal. Our focus is broader: practical solutions that reduce poverty, increase transparency, and deliver real opportunity without identity politics or division.

Our Approach
Replace DRIPA with mandatory revenue-sharing and equity participation on all major resource and infrastructure projects (building on successful models like Haisla’s 50.1% ownership in Cedar LNG and Coastal GasLink’s 10% equity).
Demand full transparency on funding to Indigenous groups and band administrations, including foreign donations. We will not tolerate corruption among certain chiefs and band councils that keeps their own people in poverty.
Prioritize economic self-reliance through trades apprenticeships and skills training for Indigenous youth starting at age 16.
Uphold equal rights under the law for every British Columbian — Indigenous or not.

True reconciliation is about creating wealth, jobs, and hope so that no child grows up in poverty. We choose shared prosperity through partnership, transparency, and accountability.

However, the scale and speed of recent mass migration — both international and interprovincial — has become unsustainable and is actively harming our youth and the future of BC. Rapid population growth has overwhelmed housing, infrastructure, and services while masking our province’s collapsing fertility rate. Young British Columbians are being priced out, delayed in starting families, and increasingly forced to leave the province they love.

Support legal, skilled, and controlled immigration that fills real labour shortages.
Tie immigration levels to BC’s actual housing and infrastructure capacity.
Protect and prioritize British Columbians for scarce housing and entry-level jobs.
Address the root cause of our demographic decline by making BC affordable enough for our own young people to start families.

Sustainable, managed immigration strengthens us. Uncontrolled mass migration weakens us. We will fight for an immigration system that is fair to newcomers and fair to current residents alike.

The BC Renewal Party believes every British Columbian deserves a realistic path to homeownership and stable housing. We will make housing affordable again through smart, evidence-based reforms that increase supply, discourage speculation, and put people first.
